Mick Flannery, a singer-song writer from Cork released his debut album Evening Train in 2007. The album features the tracks In the Gutter and The Tender, which won him awards at the International Songwriting Competition, Nashville, Tennessee, making him the first Irish musician to win in this event.

In 2008 Flannery released his second album White Lies, which achieved a top ten position in the Irish Albums Chart. The album went platinum and was nominated for the Choice Music Prize.

Flannery who writes all of his songs (words and music), plays both piano and guitar, and most recently won Best Irish Male at the 2009 Meteor Awards
