In the Vibrations Eco Area there will be a wonderful kids zone called Tir na bPaisti, based on the theme of Tir na nOg. Dowtcha Puppets will be presenting a gorgeous puppet show for small people called Grandma’s Garden, along with some great puppet making workshops (www.dowtchapuppets.com) Fairy Folklore Tales with Jenny Butler – Jenny, who teaches at the Department of Folklore and Ethnology at UCC, will be telling tales about fairy folklore, the sacred landscape and the folklore of Liss Ard itself and the Skibbereen area.Dance and drama and art with Tinkerbell – the lovely and unique Tinkerbell and her team of little pixies will be on hand all weekend to bring smiles and surprises to all the young people in the Tir na bPaisti area at Cork X Southwest! Clowning Around – Cutless and Juliet (very special clowns from Kinsale FEC) will be running around Tir na bPaisti with a giant wardrobe of costumes and plenty of hijinks to scare grown-ups and amaze kids! A Treasure Hunt in the woods of Liss Ard is also being planned as we speak! The Slow Food Village has a feast of treats for kids – there are no junk food vendors allowed on site, only the freshest local produce, cooked before your very eyes – from gourmet burgers to wood fired pizzas, healthy veggie delights to homemade buns and cakes! All children under 12 are welcome for free when accompanied by an full paying adult of 18 years or over. All children must be registered and receive a wristband before they can be admitted to the festival. This facility will be available at the ticket desk at the festival entrance between 6pm and 9pm on Friday (for those with camping) and from 9am, all day long, on Saturday and again on Sunday. While the hotels and B&B’s in Skibbereen are pretty full at this stage, there is a huge selection of accommodation in towns and villages in the area, none of which are more than 20 minutes from the festival – check out Tragumna, Baltimore, Castletownsend, Union Hall, Glandore, Schull etc. There will also be a shuttle bus running throughout Saturday and Sunday to and from Skibbereen town (at a nominal charge) Quiet Camping is available on the festival site specifically for families who would like a good night’s sleep, with shower and toilet facilities close at hand and the Civil Defence will be on hand for any little mishaps, bumps or scrapes your precious smallies might experience!
