Peter Hook co-founded the post-punk band Joy Division in the mid-1970s. Following the death of lead singer Ian Curtis, the band reformed as New Order, whom Hook played bass for until his departure in 2007. During this time, Hook also sang a few backing vocals on some of Joy Divisions songs, co-lead on vocals with Ian Curtis on live versions of Joy Divisions “interzone” and sang lead on a few of New Order’s songs.

In February 2010, as partner in a joint venture, Hook opened a new club and live venue in Manchester called FAC 251 - The Factory, and performed on the opening night with The Light, a Manchester Supergoup featuring Mani (Stone Roses), Rowetta (Happy Mondays), Howard Marks and other special guests on opening night.

Later in 2010, Hook recorded and released two EPs on American indie record label 24 Hour Service Station as Man Ray with production partner and Freebass keyboardist Phil Murphy. The first Summer 88 released in April, revisited the staple sounds of the Hacienda nightclub, with the duo using a mixture of classic Roland synths & drum machines to simulate early Acid House vibes. The second Tokyo Joe released in December blended Hook's trademark high range bass sound & old school punk inflected vocal chant with Murphy's classic synths, guitars & drum machines

In May 2011 Peter Hook and The Light's debut EP '1102 / 2011' was released and during the Summer of 2011 the band will be performing at numerous concerts and gigs throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe and  South America.
