Echo and the Bunnymen are an English post-punk group, formed in 1978. Their original line up consisted of Ian McCulloch (vocals, guitar), Will Sergeant (guitar), Les Pattinson (Bass) and Pete De Freitas (drums).

In 1980 they released their debut album Crocodiles and their second album Heaven Up Here released in 1981 continued to build upon their successes reaching number 10 in the UK album chart.

1982 saw the band achieve their first UK hit single with The Back of Love, and the following year the Bunnymen had their first top 10 UK hit with The Cutter, and their album Porcupine reached number 2 in the UK album Charts.

Ocean Rain was released in 1984 and contained the hit singles The Killing Moon, Silver and Seven Seas. In 1987 the original line up released one more album Echo and the Bunnymen and the following year McCulloch left to pursue a solo career.

In 1989 following the sudden death of de Freitas in a motorcycle accident the band re-emerged with a new line up; Will Sergeant (guitar), Les Pattinson (bass), Noel Burke (lead singer) and Damon Reece (drums) and Jake Brockman (keyboard) releasing the album Reverberation in 1990.

This line-up split in 1993 and McCulloch, Sergeant and Pattinson regrouped in 1997 as Echo and the Bunnymen and had a top 10 UK hit with Nothing Last Forever and released the album Evergreen.

Shortly after Pattison left the group for a second time, but McCulloch and Sergeant have continued as Echo and the Bunnymen, releasing the albums; What Are You Going to Do with Your Life?, Flowers, Siberia and The Fountain.

The current lineup consists of Ian McCulloch (vocals, guitar),  Will Sergeant (guitar), Gordy Goudie (guitar), Stephen Brannan (bass), Jez Wing (keyboards and Nick Kilroe (drums).
