Drugstore, are alternative/Indie/Melodramatic pop band who are based in London.
Formed in 1993, by Brazilian singer/songwriter is Isabel Monterio, guitarist Dave Hunter and drummer Mike Chylinski, the band released their first single Alive in 1994. After the release of this single Hunter was to be replaced by Daron Robinson and soon after this the band signed a major record deal.
In the years that followed the band’s popularity grew and they released a number of singles and played at numerous festivals including the Phoenix’s Festival, Reading and Glastonbury. They also toured with well-known and popular artists including Radiohead, Tindersticks, Jeff Buckley and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
In 1998 the band released their second album, White Magic for Lovers and sometime later in 2001 their third album Songs for the Jet set was released. This was followed by a compilation of extra tracks in 2002, titled - Drugstore Collector Number One (compilation of b-sides and out-takes)
After some time out, the band returned with a gig at Dingwalls in London in 2009 and in early 2010, Monteiro announced a revamped line-up, which was unveiled at a sell-out London gig in May of that year also.
In the summer of 2010 the band yet again performed at Glastonbury Festival, and in October 2010 Drugstore signed a record deal with London based indie label RocketGirl. Since then the band have been recording material for their new album, Anatomy, which will be released in the spring 2011.
